8th Annual Mariachi Corazón de San Antonio Festival, High School Group and All-Star Competition

Celebrating Día de los Muertos!
This festival features the very best of young mariachis in our own community.
Come hear area high school groups compete for the title of “Best High School Level Mariachi in the San Antonio Area,” along with a cash prize for first place High School Mariachi. These young students will be sure to amaze everyone with their remarkable talent!
Individuals will also be trying out to be a part of the international award-winning Mariachi Corazón de San Antonio, a mariachi program for high school students that lead to scholarships towards higher education.
This year will also be celebrate Día de los Muertos. Altars will be setup for public interaction, featuring artists: Elizabeth Rodriguez, in dedication to Texas musicians; Kathy Sosa, on behalf of mētú, in dedication to victims of domestic violence; and Laura Varela, in dedication of victims from the El Paso massacre. Also featuring a calavera by Garcia Art Glass.
Emceeing the evening will include always-entertaining Sonny Melendrez, co-hosted with Joyce Adams! Entertainment to kickoff mid-afternoon on Saturday, October 26th.
Showcasing at the end of the evening will be Mariachi Corazón de San Antonio with a concert finale you won’t forget.
The evening will conclude with San Antonio | The Saga, captivating video art installation on the magnificent façade of San Fernando Cathedral, at 9:30 and 10:00PM.
Free face painting, local vendors, and live entertainment … it will be a night full of talent and fun the family will not want to miss!
As always with Main Plaza, this event is FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
